The PROMIS standard for differential item functioning (DIF) has been hybrid logistic ordinal regression (i.e. lordif). However, several PROMIS banks, such as the smoking banks have used other DIF procedures. Testing for DIF is especially relevant to the PHO, insofar as there have been proposals to require DIF evaluations for translated versions. It is common for different DIF methods to flag different items, without knowing which is correct. This webinar will explore multiple methods for DIF detection, using a simulation study that allows direct methodological comparisons. It will also consider options for addressing DIF, and potential implications for PROMIS.
